I got this cabinet on craigslist back in 2012. Its been a sewing cabinet, a computer cabinet, and now its just a craft storage area.
I started painting it two years ago, after I had seen so many pieces of furniture on Pinterest painted with toll paintings.
I thought I would just use white though, because I didn’t want it looking too folksy.
I used Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Old White.
I did not have a complete plan for the whole design, but I knew what I wanted to do in a few areas, and eventually I knew what to do with the remaining areas.
I actually cut out a piece of felt that i used as a kind of stamp for the wreaths at the bottom. I hot glued it to a piece of thick cardboard and I just threw it out when I was done with it.
I just had to incorporate Dala horses into the design, though this is where I am stuck. Something has to go in between them, as well as inside them, and I am still mulling it over.
I painted the trim white as well.
This is how it looks currently. I have plans to decorate the sides and the top trim, as well as possibly whitewashing the whole thing, as the wood is a little dark for my taste.
